At Bump to You, we understand that the postpartum period is deeply vulnerable. The thoughts, feelings, and physical symptoms you log in our app belong to you, and protecting that deeply personal information is our highest priority.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide a safe, nurturing experience tailored to your postpartum journey:

  • Account Information: Your name, email address, and authentication data used to create and secure your account.
  • Journal & Check-In Content: The daily mood logs, physical symptom check-ins, private journal entries, and conversations you have with our AI companion.
  • Apple Health Data (optional, on your device): If you choose to connect Apple Health, the app reads signals such as sleep, heart rate, and activity on your device to gently flag possible changes in your recovery. This raw Health data never leaves your phone — only derived values (computed daily summaries and a recovery score from 0 to 100, not your raw Health data) are sent to our servers and associated with your account to power your recovery insights. Connecting Apple Health is entirely optional, and the app works fully without it.
  • Approximate Location (optional): If you opt in to the community map, your location is rounded to a broad area on your device before anything is sent, so only an approximate region — never your exact location — is ever shared. This feature is opt-in and can be turned off at any time.
  • Subscription Information: Your subscription status and purchase history. Payments are processed by Apple and our payments provider (RevenueCat); we never receive or store your full credit card number.
  • Push Notification Tokens: A device token that lets us send the gentle reminders and updates you opt in to. You can turn notifications off at any time.

We do not currently use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services, and we do not track your activity across other apps or websites. If we ever introduce optional analytics or diagnostics to help improve the app, we will update this policy first.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly to support your wellbeing:

  • To provide personalized recovery insights and milestones.
  • To enable the AI companion to offer contextual, gentle support based on your recent check-ins.
  • To manage your subscription and unlock the premium features you purchase.
  • To send the push notifications and reminders you have chosen to receive.
  • To securely share updates with your partner, but only if you explicitly invite them and grant permission.

3. AI Processing

To power the companion chat, daily check-in responses, and symptom guidance, the text you write may be sent to a trusted third-party AI provider (such as OpenAI) solely to generate a response back to you. This text is used only to provide these features — it is never sold, and it is not used to train advertising profiles. The AI does not provide medical diagnosis and is not a substitute for professional care.

4. Data Protection and Security

We employ industry-standard encryption to protect your journal entries, chat logs, and health data. We do not sell your personal data, mood logs, or symptom tracking to third parties, advertising networks, or data brokers. Ever.

5. Your Rights

You have complete control over your data. You can export your journal, delete specific entries, or permanently delete your entire account and all associated data at any time from within the app settings.
